To Hayleys Agriculture, sustainability means future viability and it forms an integral part of our business strategy, we are convinced that we can only achieve lasting commercial success if we balance growth with sustainability; hence our strategy is to balance agro-economic growth with ecological and corporate social responsibility.

Hayleys Agriculture firmly believes in fulfilling social obligations and we strive to conduct various CSR projects in the communities in which we function. Our team of talented professionals with many years of experience in the industry are keen to share their knowledge with others already engaged in agricultural activities as well as with newcomers to the field.

Initiatives
Partnerships with local farmers and farmer organisations via outgrower networks, to modernize cultivation and demand driven value addition, thereby assisting progression from subsistence agriculture to commercial oriented agriculture.
Support the diverse agriculture communities in the country by sharing our knowledge free of charge through a range of R&D and farmer training initiatives whilst constantly innovating and promoting better use of technology and sustainable agricultural practices.
Pioneering seaweed cultivation as an alternative income generation opportunity to encourage communities in the conflict affected areas to diversify their livelihood opportunities in an environmentally sustainable manner.
Projects
Upgrading of facilities at the Sevanagala Rural Hospital.
Establishment of a model farm in Mahawilachchiya to demonstrate appropriate agriculture practices and technology to improve yields and livelihood of farmers in the village.
Construction of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plant in Welioyato provide over 10,000 litres of clean drinking water per daythrough ‘PuritasSathDiyawara’, Hayleys Group’s key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative
Increased the water supply of the area surrounding Kattambuwawa Tank in Kurunegala from 19 to 40 acres through our restoration projects. This project has enabled approximately 150 families to cultivate their land successfully.
The capacity of the Aluthwawa Tank in Hambantota was increased from 5 Arc. ft to 60 Arc. ft through the removal of aquatic plants and silt. Thus, we have managed to increase cultivatable area from 250 to 700 acres.
Enhanced the livelihoods of those affected by the tsunami in the UNESCO village in Kosgoda through our Anthurium Cultivation Project. This project facilitates the export of Anthuriums and small scale businesses.
Sponsored career guidance programmes for students in collaboration with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce with the aim of exposing rural youth to a variety of vocations.
Assist university students by organising 6 month in-house training programmes and we have also sponsored needy veterinary undergraduates at the University of Peradeniya.
Other charitable ventures
Providing stationary to students of many schools including Polwatta Maha Vidyalaya, Minuwangoda.
Constructing a playground at a village school in Kurunegala.
Conducting training workshops in Agro Chemicals, Animal Health Products and Fertilizer .
Refurbishing the Seeduwa hospital.
Renovating a bus stand at the Seeduwa junction.
Assisting critically ill patients, widows, the destitute and the unemployed.
Contribution of free vaccinations for the sterilisation of stray dogs.
