Hayleys Agriculture Jaffna Centre expanded to a new location to enhance and spread out services Hayleys Agriculture relocated their Jaffna Showroom and Service Centre to 84,Palaly Road, Kondavil on the 22nd of April with a view of enhancing and expanding their services to the Farmers in the Jaffna Peninsula and Northern Province. Mr. Rizvi Zaheed, Managing Director of Hayleys Agriculture officially opened the Centre and unveiled the Vision and Mission Board at the premises. The Ceremonial opening was well attended by the staff from Colombo, the “Jaffna Team” and well-wishers and distinguished guests from the Northern Provincial Council, Governor’s Secretariat, Department of Agriculture, G.A.’s Office, District Secretariat, Jaffna Municipal Council, Military Civil Affairs Division of the Sri Lanka Army and Hayleys Agriculture Distributors & Dealers. The new Centre will act as a Farmer Community Centre where demonstrations, training programmes and other extension services will be carried out on a regular basis.

Mr. Rizvi Zaheed, in his keynote address stated that the Company has been serving the Farmers of Jaffna for more than 50 years and even throughout the conflict period and with the relocation of the Jaffna Centre to a larger premises would give the organization a better opportunity to bring all its seven divisions ;- Crop Production, Crop Protection, Fertilizer, Agri Equipment, Animal Health, Agri Export - Non Food ( Flower Seeds and Plants) and Agri Exports - Food (Gherkin and other processed foods) under one roof. Furthermore Mr. Zaheed stated that the Centre will act as a focal point to provide Extension Services such as farmer training classes, awareness building on best global practices in farming, transfer of technology etc.

Mr. Siri Gamage, Director of Hayleys Agriculture made a short presentation of the Holding Company and explained as to how the local farmer could benefit from the various products and services offered by each Division of the company and pointed out that the common goal of the Company is to make the farmer more productive and efficient and bring in professionalism to farming.

In keeping with the traditions of Hayleys, a multi religious ceremony was also observed to invoke blessings upon the premises and the entire Hayleys Agriculture Team which comprises of Staff at the Centre, Area Managers and Area Executives of the Northern Province, Field Officers, Sales Executives and Promotional Team. It was encouraging for Hayleys staff particularly to Mr. K. Arooran, The Centre in Charge, to see the enthusiasm of those present who queued up to purchase items no sooner the Centre was opened for business.
