The factory with state-of-the-art technology is located at Biyagama Export Processing Zone, which is situated close to the Colombo Port and the Airport, facilitating shipments.   Exports of gherkins commenced in 1985.  The initial product range included pickled gherkins, silver skin onions and chilies packed in glass jars exported to Japan, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.  The production line was later upgraded to produce 25’000 mts per annum and the product range has been expanded to include both organic as well as conventional products such as bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, pineapple, papaya, mango, banana, jak-fruit, etc.  Our production capabilities include cutting, slicing, dicing as well as jar, can, pouch, Aseptic packing to customer requirements.  Currently the company has a 43% share of total exports of fruits & vegetables from Sri Lanka.

The company has another processing plant in Alawwa, where gherkins are processed in vats and barrels for shipment in semi-processed and for value addition is situated in a central location in the Island enables to smoothen collection and deployment of fruits and vegetable to our production plants.

Under our further expansion project the company has set up a similar facility in the Ampara district in the Eastern Province, in order to increase our production capacity.  This has taken the company closer to growing areas, so that fruits and vegetables are processed straight away and customers are provided with farm fresh products.

The company has its own barrel producing plant situated at Alawwa and produces 220 litre food grade plastic barrels for storage and export of gherkins in bulk form.

Company also has several green house projects located in different parts of the Island to grow high quality fruits  & vegetables under controlled conditions.  

Our highly skilled work force consists of Food Scientists and Agriculture Degree and Diploma Holders, with over 20 years of experience in the field.  The company provides advisory extension services and agri inputs on credit to farmer out-growers to improve their productivity and ensure quality of farmer produce through good agricultural practices.  The company’s Extension Officers, who are based in the growing areas, select the farmers for cultivation and purchase of crop.

Cultivation is done though farmer out-growers and in company owned/managed farms & greenhouses.
The supply base of the company is mainly in Anuradhapura, Ampara, Polonnaruwa, Matale, Kurunegala, Moneragala, Badulla, Ratnapura and Puttlam districts, where they have a 8’000 strong farmer out-grower base, whose harvest is purchased at guaranteed prices.
